Design started 1962, by Weser / Focke Wulf / HFB (ERNO) originally to be powered by Lycoming PLF 1 turbofans.
Changed to M45H in 1965. Production authorised 1970, but delayed by accident and bankruptcy of RR. Production got under way 1972, by a collaboration of VFW-Fokker, MBB, SABCA, Fairey in Belgium, and Fokker-VFW Netherlands.
None of the larger airlines placed orders, but there are videos of this aircraft on you tube.

Over the airfield looking east. My RV Motorhome (caravan) is right of the camper trailer top center. I sometimes stay in John Prince Park Campground and zip over to the airfield on my zippy electric push bike..


BTW, The lake east of the airfield is called Lake Osborne

I'm going to have to dig deeper, you chaps are like greased lightning!
Excellent observing, Pete. Just a warning for the future, though, if there were two posts and only one had a "?", the other would win. I'm looking for answers, not questions, and the right answer may miss out on that technicality.

Never seen that before, interesting read. I thought the side profile looked a bit Jet Provost like.

It was a very noisy beast, I remember climbing the blister hangar on the side of the runway at Farnborough 1949(?) & it really hurt my ears with its high pitched whine. Laminar wing tailless experimental, had a very low flutter speed I think because of the double use of longitudinal split ailerons/elevators, so lots of sloppy bearings.....
