Murray Walker

Post by Nigel H-J »

The voice of motorsport has sadly passed away.

He was, to my mind, the only commentator that could keep you entertained even if it was a boring race. I just loved the way he delivered those famous oooops!! I spoke too early.

Will be sadly missed. :((

Rest in peace Murray.

Very sad, but a life well lived. Back when I used to follow F1, his commentary was so much part of the day. You just couldn't have anyone else doing it. I particularly remember that dreadful weekend at Imola when Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna both died - Murray spoke sombrely and respectfully, and never once veered into emotion or dramatization. It must have been incredibly difficult for him to keep his feelings and sense of shock suppressed so he could continue to do his job. Rest in peace, Murray, there'll never be another quite like you.
