Tony Brooks who raced with Stirling Moss has sadly passed away aged 90.
He did study to become a dentist at Manchester University but opted to drive in F1 instead.
never won an F1 crown but like Stirling came very close to sealing a championship.
Rest in Peace Tony.

The Connaught's were built in the village of Send in Surrey where I was born and grew up. Tony had a garage in Brooklands Rd Weybridge for many years, right alongside the offices of Vickers when the factory was in production.
Sadly all gone now, including Tony.

Re: Tony Brooks RIP
And Tyrrels were made in Ripley AFAIK. I remember Tony Brooks opening his garage - I think it was when I was working in the Vickers Mould loft, on the VC10, so must have been in '59 or '60.

The Tyrrells factory was close to Ripley in Ockham. Ken Tyrrell was a local man, and had family in Ripley.
Jackie Stewart had great success driving them of course.
Your memory served you well Keith. Also jogged my memory.
