Running hot and cold

Post by Airspeed »

We've heard that you Northern Hemisphere folks are freezing.
Tomorrow is forecast to beat all past Victorian heat records; 49-50C in the North of the State.
Today was 40C, and when the lowering sun was beating on the steel security door, I burnt my hand on the handle :-O
Cheers, Mike.

I took the dog out at 07:30 this morning in temps of -14°C (7°F) with a wind chill/feels like temp of -20°C (-4°F) and that was WARM compared to some mornings in the past week!

On Thursday it's forecast to get really cold!

Daytime High
-13°C feels like -20°C (or 9°F feels like -4°F)

Night-time Low
-27°C feels like -36°C (or -17°F feels like -33°F)

Our snow has been so bad this year that I went out and bought a used snow-blower and spent parts of the last two days setting it up, servicing it and stripping and cleaning the carb in an unheated garage that was -10°C inside! I have it running better now but today's task is going to be lubing up all the grease points and adjusting cables. It was used hard and put away wet and then left untouched in an open fronted shed/barn for 2 years so it desperately needs some TLC to get her running well again. It does throw snow but not very much nor very far and this model is supposed to have a 40 foot (12m) throw range!

I just went onto the front porch to take this shot and 30 seconds outside while wearing just my indoor clothing was enough to get me shivering!
