Ironic that you've posted that off the BBC Steve as I think it's also the end of an era for pronunciation on the BBC!!! Twice today while travelling up to and back from the Midlands, I heard Radio2 news lady, Fran something or other refer to HMS Bulwark as HMS Bullock
Well this is a very sad day for me, having served on sir galahad and having fond memories of the ship and fellow shipmates. It's had to think of this ship now going for razor blades. the crew quarters were the best i've had and only having a small crew, it was more of a home that a floating tin can. engineroom staff was eight motormen and one PO and CPO. whilst tied up in dock we were able to go computer controlled and all crew could then go off watch's and have time ashore.
i'll just sign off and have a short cry in my tea. :crying: :crying:
Well the MOD do strage things, when i served on RFA Tidespring i was on the last refit with her. 7.5 million was spent and then less than three months later she was sold for scrap to india. ( figure that one ). Sir Galahad might be sold on to a private firm, i would think for the med/ greece or something. or she could go the same as the tidespring.
just a view as who knows what the MOD have in store for the not so old lady.
