You know.. I look at pics similar to these all the time and have not noticed the size of the red square before My eyes are open but they do not see!!

BTW the Comet was the same

It had a smaller tail square at first........go on DB say you noticed that and no one else had

I take it you don't have this repaint I did a while ago :huf:



It is the earliest form of BEA Red Square on the Vanguard...........before delivery the metallic bottom was painted grey and the wingtips lost the red and the red spots were removed from the tailplane.

By the beginning of September 1962 it has the larger square as well

Of course I could start a discussion about the Comet's little (and off-set) red square as well....maybe not!!

BTW they made the Comets reg bigger as well to a size that just jammed into the fin band.

But of course I have that paint. The problem is.. I don't have much in the way of AI, certainly no classic stuff so when I see them, they're on their own and thus the differences (subtle ones like that) are not so easy to spot. Anyway.. a good pilot should always be on the flightdeck, not swanning around in the etha (not that I'm a good pilot)
