A true Brit hanging on.

Post by Garry Russell »

Seems G-AOVS or what's left of it is still at Luton.

Or at least was in June

Sad to see it like this  , but I suppose it still exists.

I had seen it on Google Earth but I'm not sure when those pics were taken.

Yep, it's still there. I had a look inside it some years ago but theres nothing left inside.... it's just the fuselage.

Was it that one that was used for ground filming after retirement for Buccaneer with Red Air titles on the Redcoat livery?

I used to love watching the Brits in that film.

Loved the title sequence with the ill-fated G-BRAC putting its wheels down on approach to I think I read Lyneham. Anyway shots like that were rare in those days.

It's only a slide thats for sale, not the aircraft itself.

I vaguely remember 'Buccaneer', and I hope they'll release it on DVD soon, as one or two other rare TV serials have been, such as 'The Nightmare Man' - anyone remember that? And 'The Day of the Triffids'! I recently rented them out, great stuff.

The day of the Triffids was on TV the other night......great stuff.

As to aviation there was Airline which centred around upstart Ruskin Airways........Like Buccaneer it is not an all time great for drama but as an aviation record it's priceless.

A Connie that was in Ireland N7777G was bought for use in a later series but it could not be made flyable, however it was saved, shipped to England and is now at Wroughton. The series started of a change of events that gave us a preserved L-749. Aces High were involved with the aircraft.
