Newcastle EGNT scenery

Post by Motormouse »

at Simviation

http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery92.htm

trouble is, when I put it on my system there's some textures
missing, and the author declined to put contact details in the .zip

See wot I mean......

Now, having lots of other scenery to compare,I think this uploaded package is remarkably similar to Mr Summons UK2000 version,
see for yourselves here

http://www.uk2000scenery.com/main/oldindex.htm

in fact IMHO its' a pirate rip off, until someone proves me wrong.

You could well be right. I have just downloaded the zip and compared the texture fiile names with Gary's Newcastle, and guess what. They are the same names. I believe Gary uses common textures shared between several airports in a section of the UK scenery which may account for the missing ones. It will be worth a mail to Gary to make him aware if he isn't already.

I tried to download this scenery for comparison - no joy - but I have acted on your suggestion Steve, and given the link to this thread to Gary.

I have the UK2000 version & today the 'new' version - again without uploaders name, nor any details in the 'read me', other than Newcastle is in the north of England has appeared at "all nodes busy"

So I have tried a comparison & saved the screen shots (3) uploaded with the scenery then flown round the UK2000 version & made similar ones.

To my untrained eye they look very very similar & if I was Gary I'd be on to the various webmasters asking them to remove the files PDQ.

Further to the above, the file has also appeared today on allnodes. I have e mailed the file library manager and also Gary to bring it to his attention.
