Carriers.....

Just been checking up on Milltown. It was initially a Coastal Command airfield, hosting Liberators. After the end of the war it was used as a satellite of Lossie. A full mirror deck landing system was installed to give the Naval pilots practice.
As its origins lay with the RAF rather than the Navy, Milltown's runways were pretty long - some of the Lancs involved in sinking the Tirpitz used the aerodrome as a staging post.
Its still there according to google earth.
Best wishes
Steve P

If anyone's interested, for completeness, the fin codes for some of these long-gone shore bases were:
Culham CH
Evanton EV
Eglinton GN
Edzell JZ
Wigtown JO
Worthy Down VM
These all come from Bruce Robertson's indispensible "Aircraft Camouflage and Markings, 1907-1954".
I'm curious about Edzell after Steve P's comment - why was a code allocated if FAA aircraft didn't operate from there? Could it have been one of those places which (like Brawdy & Lossiemouth) moved from FAA to RAF ownership - before (in this case) going to the USN?
I hasten to add, I don't know any more than "Edzell - JZ" but it would be interesting to solve.
Cheers,
Kevin

Hi Ben,Is there much involved in moving ships to different locations in FS? I take it the location is built into the scenery object, but is there anyway of repositioning them?
If You can get Dave G to recompile his carrier to .mdl format then I would be able to help You out.
Basically, if You compile it as an MDL file rather than BGL, You get an XML file created with the MDL file, by using the XML file, I could move the carrier for You to Your chosen location.
