Very sad news indeed.
I was a big fan of Tomorrows World, as a kid and went on to become a scientist.
I'd like to think that Raymond Baxter was a great influence in my choice of career.
The angels will now be kept well up to date on the latest advances.
A great chap.
I enjoyed his work first of all when I wa little and he always seemed to be commentating on any motorsport when we got our first tv. Then he did the airshows and I learned he knew about aircraft!
Almost anything I was interested in on tv he did the presenting - airshows, motor sport, Telstar, Concorde, even the Festival of Remembrance that Mum and Dad watched.
I was given his autobiography for Xmas this year and reading it was like looking at our family album as it sparked so many memories for me.
This is a sad day.
I had the good fortune to meet Raymond some years ago. Although he was obviously pressed for time he talked to me for a few minutes while signing his new book about Farnborough. A true gentleman. RIP, Raymond.
Anyone remember him in that string vest and Y-fronts in the Goodies?
The one image of RB I have tried very hard to forget, thanks for bringing back to my mind Ben
Great man, never the less. Another party up above this week, the likes of Raymond B makes today´s telly stars seem very two dimensional and shallow. I think those of us of a certain age witnessed the true British TV classics, in whatever field of television.
