St. Athan?

Post by DanKH »

Hi

Do anyone know of a free St. Athan scenery, or if it doesn't exist, has the willingness to try to make one?......

Yes I know that FSX is right around next corner, but still...

All I could find was AFCADs...the default scenery boils down to a single strip in the middle of nowhere, no ILS...no AI, no nothing....at least the AFCAD injects some life, but still it looks somewhat...well....abandoned....

Abandonded!!! Anyone who's served at St Athan would probably agree that's the best thing to do with it!!!

Hi Dan,

It's not quite in the middle of nowhere but you can see it from there  Cardiff airport is only a stones throw away  I honestly don't know how 'active' St Athan will look mate as it's a maint station (and where they take VC10's to be scrapped  ) so why you of all people would want to go there I'm not really sure

Don't know of any freeware scenery for it but needless to say, it's included on one of Gary Summons UK2000 series cd's

I know it is the graveyard of VC10's, and I will only need it once. ;-)

I have long promised Garry, that I would present the 3 G-ASGK liveries I have, whereas 2 of them are from Garry, and one from David....(I'm no painter)

I would of course fly off from Toby's Wisley, (in Gold BOAC), mid-route I would change dress to BA/BOAC interim, and finally land as BA in St. Athan..(where the real G-ASGK ended its life...)

Kind of a joined tribute to David, Garry and Toby for their work in the FS community.....

So, I need more than a few tumble-weeds and a piece of asphalt, in order to make just a decent screenshot....I guess something rather non-complicated could be knocked up with the use of EZ-RWY12-Something...(no "scenerist" either ;-)... but if it can't be done, I guess I would settle for what's available....

There is also a version available over at Mr Anderson's site, I believe Steve is charging a fiver per pack these days.

Gary, don't laugh.......but was there for only seven weeks whilst training....though it felt more like seven years!!!!

July to August 1969. Watched the Moon Landing on TV 20 July. The only highlight of my stay!! Not sure when the Brit was scrapped.
