I am already using the hercsnd with the upgrade. Just been for a quick circuit and all sounds appear to be ok. It does go a lot quieter when you chop the throttle but I can still hear the engines.
Bless me.. this appears to be one occassion where my memory has worked.. and I'm quite gobsmacked
I know it's probably naff to say this and definately not patriotic but the default DC3 sounds work very well with the Viking.. infact they sound better in the Viking than they do in the DC3 which is a bit odd!
Each to their own. If it works, thats the one to use
I use the sound set for the Centaurus, I know it has four more cylinders, but it is a sleeve valve.
The sound set (sfsnd1.zip, on 'all nodes') is meant for use on the Sea Fury, it has a cartridge start sound, and the set sounds great loud with a bit of bass
It was me that made the stereo upgrade for the FS98 Bristol Hercules
sound set - I did it primarily for George H's lovely Hermes and
Hastings models. The old one did work but lacked startup sounds etc as
well as being mono.
I don't know how accurate the original sound recordings were (I'm not
sure I've knowingly heard such engines running), I simply brought
the sound.cfg file up to FS2004 standards and added the other
necessary sounds like wind and startup.
If you are using the sounds, I highly recommend you use the update, but
if you prefer another sound set, I wouldn't be hurt if you use it.
