Seafire XVII at SimV ...
...and NoNodes. I've downloaded it, but not had time to fly it yet; has anybody else, and do you have an opinion?

Just had a quick look as I have to rush off and do something else.
Panel is good, exterior model looks a tad rough round the edges, didn't really have a long enough flight to comment on the FDE.
Anyway, if you don't like a portion of it it comes with all the source files (GMAX) so you can change it!....can't moan at that eh?

I have to agree with Alex, the model is a little rough round the edges - mind you, with that source file included, I may even dig out Gmax and have a crack at tidying it up myself!!
But overall it doesn't look too bad (certainly better than my Seahawk does at the moment  ) and there is also the possibility of a little reverse engineering to produce a Seafire XV and even a Spitfire XII!!

Back in the day, many designers would routinely include their source code with their aircraft, thats how a lot of the stuff I worked on for FS98 started off. By the time I got it, it had often passed through others inbetween. It was a bit like Linux, able to be passed on and improved. That said, I only ever really passed stuff on freely privately (i.e. not with the public downloads) and since then few designers are willing to let stuff out at all.
I've had both the XVII and the 47 for quite a while now.
They both fly ok and have all the working bits(folding wings, tail hook, rad flaps)
The idle sounds are a bit tinkly and lacking in the characteristic "Griffon grunt and throb".
Once you've revved up however, there's a nice growl from "under the bonnet".
You also get nice blue exhaust flames and black smoke at full throttle, especially at low level ,with the XVII which of course is where the"short" Griffon VI was designed to operate.
Yes,they are bit rough around the edges and the 47's chin intake is somewhat suspect(bit too narrow and too deep),but hey, they're free and look the part.
Cheers Mr Scrub, the beers :drinkers: are on Andy G
