It's based on a 1983 Range Rover. There were (& still are) plenty of SII, SIII & Defender based, weapon equipped Land Rovers but I've never seen a RR based one. LR did design a desert patrol RR but the weapon mount was in the rear.
Anyone know of conversions like this one?

Yep, it's quite likely to have been done locally. But... LR have built so many weird one-offs that it could also be a factory vehicle. They did design at least one type of desert patrol RR but it wasn't the same as this thing. The mount seems a bit too substantial for anything the locals would've made...... I'd have expected them to just tie a .50 cal on with a bit of string (and then be surprised when it fell off). I do wonder if it was built by LR as a demonstrator for the BDF but they didn't buy them.

Complete with GPMG, Browning .50 and Mk19 GMG armaments
There are a few around. IIRC one of them came up for sale about a year ago. Have a trip to one of the big LR shows & look for a guy called Barry Pocock, he's got enough pinkies to start a war!

I was thinking a similar thing...... well, that it would be an interesting thing for driving around Bahrain. (where they make the drivers in Lagos look good....... especially the t**t of a policeman who drove into my RR a couple of weeks ago)

Interesting to see that they've managed to overcome the problems that a lot of vehicle manufacturers seem to be blighted with. Even in a hot desert climate the RR is still successfully rusting

It's not rust - it's "time induced air ventilation paint"
