You're in the right area ;-) The VC10 wasn't specifically designed for Hot and High although it was designed from the outset to be able to operate there so yes.. keep your RPM at the right settings and it won't bite your bum ;-)

I don't think the FE would have controlled engine thrust on takeoff on the original (civvie) aircraft and I don't think he does on the RAF versions. There are certain periods where the FE will maintain what the PIC has ordered (matching the engines via the P7 gauge (egt you mention)) but I don't think takeoff and landing are included.

Bigred.. no mate, that particular panel isn't currently modelled and tbh, what is there now is a lot more than was originally planned. Again.. the words of a wise ex Valiant/Victor/VC10 pilot spring to mind.. 'Don't forget these aircraft had a flightcrew of FOUR' I'm not gonna try and put words into anyones mouth but considering what DM has since done with the Trident, One-Eleven and Comet.. the VC10 may get a good going over some time. Depends how bored he get's ;-)

Yeah, well, the average lifespan for a UK male is 75 years. So I've got 13 years and 11 months before I shuffle from this mortal coil.

So Dave, next time you speak to that DM don't put any pressure on him BUT just ask how well he would live with the guilt if I didn't live to see it ...

Certainly no pressure from me Ian DM does all his own stuff these days and the first we get to hear about updates here is if one of the members has seen a screenie on his site or he'll say 'I've been working on this.. let me know what you think' (usually close to the finished article). I can put hand on heart and state we have had no such 'heads up' for the VC10 nor do we expect one. Like the rest of you here, we tend to expect the unexpected

I know Dave, only kidding. I love the VC10 just the way it is Having finally just got a decent spec computer I'm dying (oops - there I go again!) to get the new Comet fired up but where does the time go? The hours and days are getting shorter and shorter and the To-Do list gets longer and longer :roll:

I read a quote from an old lady in the paper a couple of years back. When asked about how time gets faster as you get older she said "Ooh, I know! One day when I was 56 I went into the kitchen to make a cup of tea and when I came out I was 71."

thanks for the information. I keep forgetting how complicated these aircraft are. if DM ever does decide to have a go at redoing this, one thing he might do is have it so you can instruct the model to set the thrust you want like the pilot would tell the FE to do in the real plane. this would let you model all the panels but let us take off without switching between multiple panels to make sure the engines are getting ready to lunch on us. kind of like the different thrust (take off,climb, and Cruise) levels you can set on Jl's avro arj. but instead of sumulating a flight system you would be kind of simulating some of the functions of a crew member. :think:
