aah, now I just don't believe this! :-(
I went off to IRIS, but their online store is closed to be upgraded. So I went and bought it at FlightSim.com as a download.
All went well, until I realised that the one there is the FGR.2 :o
It was only after I'd installed it that I realised. Thought it was strange I had to do the thumbnails myself, but who knows, if it was originally for FS9?
It's when I tried to fly it that I knew I was sunk! 24 gauges not compatible with FSX... :doho:
Here it is:
That looks okay - but take a peek at the cockpit:
Oh dear. And that's the understatement of the year.
Guess it'll be a month or three and then I'll get the other one, I suppose.
This one is of no use and I don't know anyone who runs FS9 to sell it to.
Bummer. :brick:
*been trying to post this since 9.30pm but BT had other ideas...!

It is interesting to see how prices fall over time...
21 months on and FSX Gold Edition is now selling for only £15.95 at Zavvi
http://www.zavvi.com/games/platforms/pc ... 94409.html
This, given with the ever increasing power of off the shelf PCs means there has never been a better time to turn to the Dark Side!
Come on, ya know ya wanna!

Good price
Main issue with FS.X though is not being able to run it properly rather than not wanting to run it ..........except Tony
So price makes little odds
I have FS.X now but can't run it

I went to the dark side twice but managed to find my way back , I made sure I left the light on and dragged myself back to sanity.. I must admit FSX is great for VFR flying with the superior scenery for VFR available, but treat it as a different sim and you could happily run both, one for business ..FS9 and one for fun FSX.
I think my mistake was to try and replace FS9 with FSX and expect it to be better, its not and its cheap because of that and the extra cost of all the add-ons
There you go and no rants...I must be ill

Blimey.. yesterday was the summer solstice and today is emergency budget day. I'm sure a combination of the two has had this effect on you mate
TBH.. that is exactly how I use both sims and am happy for this to continue. When all was said and done, I found I couldn't replace FS9 so both co-exist on my system

Re: One cheap deal -one slightly cheap deal...
After I "blew up" my FSX install due to a stupid human trick, I went out and found a copy of FS9... and I've fallen into the same lane as everybody else. FS9 good... FSX... well, I have to admit that if you use only "native" FSX models and such, it actually runs rather well. But as said above, try to stuff all of your FS9 favourites into it, and it quickly turns into a dog...

Who are you and what have you done with Tony Madge?
Now I finally have my new build PC I hummed and hahhed as to whether to go completely over to the Dark Side - serious reflection made it a no brainer, and I'm currently sat underneath the letter box waiting for my fresh copy of FS9! Finally I'll get to fly Steve's Seahawks!!
