One cheap deal -one slightly cheap deal...

Post by J0hn »

First - FSX Deluxe can currently be had from Amazon UK for the sum of £18.98 - with free shipping in the UK.

Then, the UK2000 VFR Airfields Vol.1 - which I find a bit pricey at £30 (especially when it's the same for download and CD by post) has a small saving at £26.73 incl p&p from Asda online.

I may have to wait a bit longer, though, to see if it comes down any more, as someone living on a pension.

I have bought the UK VFR Airfields from Horizon and paid the £29.99.

Having gone through the list of included airfields (78) and seen that it includes Stansted and Heathrow, I guess it probably isn't bad at that price, then. Although I haven't actually visited any of them yet as I'm still busy doing the farm strips. There's a very nice, printable guide for all the 'fields, too.

I also just ordered the A400M from JF - I was a bit sceptical due to it appearing like an old FS9 model in the screenshots - but threw caution to the wind in the end. I'll let you know what I think - it does come with RAF livery included. It is FS9 and FSX compatible - so probably made for FS9 then adjusted. However, it has patches at JF for FSX SP2 and Vista. Just wish some others would do the same (ahem, IRIS Phantoms and Capt Sim Boeing 757... ).

Funnily enough, the A400M is cheaper at Just Flight than it is at the developers, WILCO or at simMarket.

On the IRIS website it says they won't work in FSX SP2:
As such, we would like to clarify that effective immediately, the following aircraft are compatible with the following versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator;

FSX:RTM (off the shelf retail version of FSX)
FSX: SP1 (FSX RTM with Service Pack 1)
FSX: Accel (FSX SP1 with Acceleration Expansion pack and SP2)
FS2004

IRIS Pro Series T-6/A Texan II - (FS2004, FSX:RTM, FSX: SP1, FSX Accel)

E.A.P. - (FS2004, FSX: RTM, FSX: SP1)

F-15C Eagle - (FS2004, FSX: RTM, FSX: SP1)

F-14 Tomcat - (FS2004, FSX: RTM, FSX: SP1)

F-15E Strike Eagle (FS2004)

Phantom FG.1 - (FS2004, FSX: RTM, FSX: SP1)

Phantom FGR.2 - (FS2004)

Whilst we will work at making certain aircraft FSX: Acceleration compatible, due to time constraints some aircraft which are incompatible with FSX: Acceleration may not be upgraded.
I had a try of the AFS F-4F demo - but I just can't get used to seeing an RAF F-4F. It ain't right!

Just one thing - are you talking about the FG.1, the FGR.2 or both?
