I believe the the Metropolitan police lambo pictured in Nigel's link was a PR exercise by a Lomborghini dealer and the Met for a car show.

The Italian police did have a Gallardo which was donated by the company. Unfortunately on the way home from a safe driving seminar . . . .

One of our maintenance controllers drives one of the new Mustangs -- they really are a thing of beauty -- as opposed to the new Camaro which has to be the ugliest car I have ever seen.

Thing is mate.. the 'guilty' have little or no excuse when pulled over by something like that. I'd be more than happy to see our roads full of 'kick ass' Police cars like that rather than have them over populated with the unmarked variety ;)
