The clever criminals will switch to Chrysler Voyagers. That'll keep the cops off their backs!

I believe the US have had similar schemes running for some time so it's good to see it happening here

When the previous owner sees it passing him won't he be mad!!!!!
About time they started doing this, now what could they do with properties they seize?
Turn them into local 'drop in' police stations? Probation hostels? or just sell 'em and put the money towards employing more officers?
Nigel.

Fairfax County (where I live) uses seized vehicles as unmarked cars. They have some fairly esoteric sports cars that were seized, mostly from drug dealersDaveB wrote:![]()

Nice one. I think its a great idea. Although dilemmas may arise in the future.

Think the only problem that might arise is that when it comes to double crewing who is going to get to sit in the passenger seat!!

Re: New funding for the Police...from the criminals
A good few years ago I was employed by the Belize Department of Corrections.
I was given a 'company car' and a fuel allowance. The car was a 5ltr Ford Mustang that had been confiscated during a bust...the previous owner was running drugs through Belize to Quintana Roo in Mexico then onward to Florida.
The vehicle was totally useless. There are a few black top highways in Belize but other than that most roads are pot-holed dirt tracks and with a ground clearance of a few inches 'off-road' driving was not a pleasant experience.
The body was plastic and all the weight was at the front, the back end swung around like a feather.....braking was an art, especially during tropical storms.
....having said that, it's a shame I couldn't bring it back to the UK

Its a bit like that episode of TopGear where Clarkson raced a souped up Mitsubishi Evo round one of the Army's training course and was shot at and subsequently destroyed at the end. It was only then revealed that the car was the previous property of an incarcerated drug dealer and the Judge had ordered the vehicle destroyed
