I dunno but I won't comment further on it :)

Looking at the list of developers in the blurb that comes with FTX England, Darren of ES isn't mentioned as part of the team so whether he was 'in the background' or not there at all.. who knows. Sets of 3D objects for GenX will be a welcome addition though

I don't think ES had anything to do with FTX England. In fact I remember a thread on the ORBX forum before it was released asking if it would be compatible with ES stuff. They said that they wanted to work with ES but hadn't received a reply to their approach.

Their partner company in Havant is called SIM720 and I think it is a subsidiary formed just to develop the Europe series.

Lots of posts on ES website regarding Darrens involvement. He was apparently told to keep quiet about the ORBX development, and didn't post on the site for a long time.

Now that it's been released, Darren is posting once again.

:dunno:

Just a reminder about the use of FTX Central. A thread on the ORBX forum about the use of FTX Central has reminded me that FTX England has introduced some new users to the Orbx/FTX way of doing things. Central is a control centre allowing you to access control panels for airports, region switch, manuals etc..

FTX advise that the correct use of FTX Central involves switching regions when you fly elsewhere. It should be switched to Europe, North America or Oceania depending on which FTX scenery area you are in. If you are not flying in an FTX scenery then it should be switched to default. If you don't, you may see scenery or other irregularities occur. Personally, I don't see any problems flying in and out of default areas but do check this if you do.

A slightly off topic note to George..

Re the R6025 runtime error.. I found another copy of the virtualfx.dll on an old drive and swapped it for the one installed. This threw up an msvcr80.dll error first time I tried to use it but it's been stable since and no more R6025. I think all I've done is delayed the inevitable but no more errors will do while the Mosquito is still being fettled ;)

A new issue with OrbX has come to light (for me).

I installed the PNW and Tasmania demo regions and thought no more about it.

Recently I've been getting a lot of 'out of memory' errors (that cause the sim to close). I uninstalled the demos and the error stopped appearing.

Seem to remember having this issue before, a year or so ago, and now wondering if that was when I had OrbX Tasmania and/or the freeware OZx scenery installed *-)

I finally got around to seeing how the amazing Duxford freeware scenery looks with the new England scenery. Here's a view during the summer season. :) The trick to making the Duxford scenery appear correctly is to have the Duxford scenery higher in your add-on scenery list than the England scenery.
