If you have a payware prog whether it be a model, scenery or utility that you have tried.. tell us about it here.

You have Skype don't you Paul...?

I am around this weekend coming if you would like some help getting your painting skills off the ground mate...?

Tony
I do indeed have Skype, Tony. Unfortunately, this coming weekend is pretty much spoken for. If the opportunity arises later, may I take you up on your offer ? I think I need to make some sort of effort first and see how I get on, then I can come back with any specific problems and you can tell me where I am going wrong. I definitely need to go through those tutorials first and give myself some sort of grounding in the process. How does that sound ?

Regards

Kevin

but it is NOT a serious worthwhile repainting programme in it's own right. I personally don't know anyone who uses it to actually paint.
Oh dear thats me fooked then as I swear by it, I do ALL my repaints in it and would give painting up if I did not have it, plus points
1: you dont have to have FS running to check your work
2: You use PSP or similar to edit paintkits then paste the finished work onto the new textures, you may have to mess with alpha etc using dxtbmp
3: It is NOT gawdy if its done correctly, like I say I am happy with the results and would not paint without it.
Just my thoughts I dont profess to be any good but it works well for me ;-)

Paul

Just try something simple like a reg change and get that into the sim :)

When you know you can get it showing, expand it from there......perhaps change the cheatline colour...add a flag.......whatever :dunno:

Once you start....... there is no stopping

Perhaps I ought to expand on FSRepaint

Ok I create a new aircraft entry in the cfg then make anew texture folder and copya set of textures from a folder within that aircrfat, fire up FSRepaint and open a texture, I assign my texture editor as PSP so it opens in that (try to stay as extended 32bit).
I then make or create a paintkit or use a present one do my painting in PSP within FSrepaint then when happy merge the textures and copy them to the texture file FSRepaint has opened and save it, hint; I ALWAYS back up my created textures first.
Once complete fire up FS9 and see what you think, sometimes alphas have to be tweaked but its easy as that.
Some planes will not open i.e. Ricks 748 I think its a FSD 3.5 issue? anyway the majority do.
The results are good as your using FSRepaint as an aid not a replacement, I use it to compliment PSP and it works for me.
Its easy if you want to mess with present textures already painted as a starter, you will soon be doing proper ones for yourself :)
Dont think its a rubbish prog though I did and was wrong, Garry Smith has done some great paint tutorials and they are worth working with. He likes FSRepaint so thats good enough for me.

Hi Tony..

What I think you've said there is you use it as we all do.. perhaps in a little more depth (of use that is). You use PSP to paint with and FSRepaint to see the fruits of your labours ;-)

Sri mate but the name Gary Smith doesn't leap out at me and I apologise for that. Now, if you'd have said Garry Russell uses it so that's good enough for me.. I'd be with ya. In fact, GR does use it so it IS good enough for me

Garry Smith in Australia:

And like you have suggested Dave, I reckon Tony is really using PSP to the texturing but with FSRepaint as a front end

Indeed..we all use it to check etc but not to do the actual painting :)

Thanks for that link Ian  I feel kinda embarrassed at not knowing a bloke who seems to be world famous but in my defense, looking down the list of paints.. I don't fly any of those aircraft ;-)
