He's got the render to 3d set in the panel.cfg; I'm sorting it now, a few more minutes (I hope )

Ee-gads.. I don't even remember changing that. In fact, I know I didn't change anything when I dragged it over a couple of days ago One thing I noticed just when I had a look to make sure the order/cfg entries and thumbnails matched (which they do) is that on first trying to get the panel to show, it worked on the second press of A.. nowt seemed to happen when it was hit once. However, from that point on, it worked on one press (not that you'd want to fly without a panel anyway) The only views with render=3d are the standard fs9 'views' which don't work in FSX anyway do they?

FS.X supports 2D but not side views...in other words it's a fixed forward view as far as I can make out

So if you are seeing wings and engines in 2D you are actually still in 3D

Not sure Dave, but I've changed them anyway. Here you go chaps, I'd delete the existing "FSDS2 Vickers Varsity" folder in your SimObjects before adding these Russ and overwrite if prompted.

Ah.. the penny drops. That's why Russ is seeing disjointed bits and pieces when he uses the standard keys for 2D views.

Thanks Fellas, well I certainly got a debate going! Sounds like the problem is situated around me using FSX keystrokes. I'll work through the suggestions and see what works although I'm out tonight so might not be able to 'strap in' until Friday.

Don't get caught Russ

It's not so much FSX keystrokes mate, it's that certain things that worked in FS9 (eg, 2D views) don't work in FSX. The Varsity didn't have a 3D modelled VC.. it's purely 2D which is why it becomes a bit restricted in FSX.. some would say. To be honest, I'd rather have no VC than a poor one and there are plenty of poor ones out there. It does come as a bit of a shock though if you're used to FSX. It also comes as a shock to us used to seeing it in FS9!
So.. when you go to look around the flightdeck, there's nothing there beyond the main 2D panel because FSX uses the VC for these views. As the Varsity/Viking/Valetta don't have VC's you get a big hole instead
