That's great.
Thanks very much for this quick reply.
BTW, This is a great forum. I've been checking for a long time. Very informative.

Hi, this is my first post here and i apologise for opening up a old thread but I was interested in this topic as I am from Eastleigh, I was also interested in the Bristol freighter because I am sure i used to see them visiting the airport when i was a kid in the 80s (latter half of the decade) but from what i see on this topic they were in the 50's/60's so know I am wondering what it was i used to see, it certainly looked like a Bristol freighter, any ideas?

Hello Javiator

And Welcome :)

The model is a Superfreighter a type that became extinct in 1975 :-(

However the short nosed Mark 31 Freighters continued in dwindling numbers until a few years ago

Instone/Atlantic operated two Mk.31 in the latter half of the 'eighties and from what I can tell were regular into Southampton :)

Aha thats explains it then, thanks, I have one of the Instone ones on my flight sim because i wanted to have all my old favourites from my childhood days and as i said i was sure that one of the planes was a Bristol freighter and the only one i could find to download was the Instone one, seems that was the right one after all for me! now i think i have the complete collection of the aircraft i remeber so fondly which is the Air UK F-27 srs 200 & 500 Air UK Herald BAF & Guernsey Viscounts an Aurigny Shorts 360 (wanted air UK or guernsey but couldnt find them) but the Aurigny one did visit occasionly so thats ok! also i need a 330 but no joy in finding one in the correct livery the good old trislander (G-JOEY, my fave trislander!) thats the only plane from the old day that still flys regular from EGHI! the British airways HS748, which is the one on my avatar, that particular 748 (G-ATMJ) is special to me because i remember me and my freind sitting in the cockpit of that one, we even got a little certificate! (back then they were quite happy to allow us to go in the cockpits while they were being prepared for the next flight) there was even a regular flight with air atlantique with Dakotas and sometimes 748s so i have one of those dakotas to!, oh yeah and the Bristol 170!

There was a Guensey Airlines Short 330 that was a little old and crude by modern standard.

Do you not remember the Air UK Heralds??
