One year on..

Post by DaveB »

Hi Guy's..

John will run me ragged if I've got this wrong and I've cleverly deleted his last PM before going away but.. I'm pretty certain that CBFSVA is 1-year old today!! We had a couple of weeks in limbo while the I's were dotted and the T's were crossed but on this day 12months ago was the first flight in a British aircraft and this was done by our very own Rick P

Have we moved on a little bit or what!!

On behalf of the team here, I'd like to thank all of our pilots as without you.. we'd be just another VA instead of the force that we are. Many of you (and I include me in that) don't pay much attention (if any) to what the other VA's are doing and do what we do because we want to.. not because we want to be the biggest or the best. I can't say what the secret ingredient is but whatever it is works

What's in store for the future..
Nothing too drastic.. at least not by my standards anyway  As new types of aircraft become available, we'll do what we can to get them added to the fleet thus expanding our route network (already by far the most extensive on FlyNET and by some margin) and at the same time, offering you a greater variety of options. We are constantly on the lookout for new aircraft and while British built types are always at the top of the list.. I'd like to see a few non-British types included. While I might not be keen on flying some of these myself, there are some foreign types that served the British Airline industry for a variety of reasons.. mostly as a stop-gap but some for other reasons. A number of aircraft spring to mind.. the Boeing Stratocruiser, the Lockheed Constellation, the Boeing 707, the Lockheed Tristar.. even the B747-100. They all have their place in British aviation history and while not being 'British built' deserve our consideration. While I couldn't put hand on heart and say this will be well recieved by all.. some will flatly refuse and for totally valid reasons, I do see it as a way forward. While it may not happen for a long time, in fact it may never happen.. it is a route I'd like to see us go. There are still parts of the globe where we have little influence and I'd like to see that redressed

So.. there you go. My personal thoughts (though I know they're inline with a number of others) warts and all  Again, I thank each and every one of you for hanging in there and staying with us.

EDIT.. it has been remiss of me to only include the pilots and for that I apologise. It has since dawned on me that there are a good few out there, not least of all our own GarryR, who contribute to the VA in their own way and are equally worthy of mention so to you all, I extend my thanks

Best regards

Nice going John - and the rest of you hooligans

Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery I notice there are a lot of
VAs on Flynet that are now flying classics instead of just the run of the mill
B*&ing and A%^b@s - Infact someone ordered up 748s again this weekend. Forget the numbers game and enjoy - Between Johns hardwork - Dave doing alot of pathfinding and DMs incredible stats things look very nice.

Congratualtions to the VA equivalent of "The Airways" from the upstarts
at VHA :)

Spot on with your comments Dave,

I firmly believe that our team of designers, panel experts and technical wizards have given us the tools to spark a little envy in the rest of the flight simming world.

Well done everyone for all the hard work.

Robbie

sorry dave your a few days late. i did my first flight for the cbfs va on the 16th may. i remember there were only a few pilots and limited flight routes. all serviced by the fokker.
only a few actual flew the fokker, as others waited for a british aircraft to come on the books, some three weeks later. all i can say this has been a great to see from the acorn has come this wonderful oak. lots of aircraft types/routes and a great bunch of chaps. may cbfs continue to expand and push further in to the deep blue skies.

Hello mate,

Yes.. understood. The VA was up and running as Air Anglia until we'd finally decided on CBFS and a number of flights were flown.. all of which were important, under the AA banner  Finally came our current name and then the first flight done in a British Aircraft.. a newly acquired HS748, this being done by the ever-young Mr Piper on 20th.

Consider it one of those tricky Trivial Pursuit questions.. 'When was CBFSVA born?'

Extremely well done to all those involved in the day to day management of CBFSVA, I have never looked at or compared other VAs' to this one, why should I? For there can be no direct competition between us and other VAs' as there are with real airlines..........can there?

OK, maybe I'm wrong in that but as far as I am concerned for the few months and few hours that I have flown here I am more than happy being part of a truly successful team.

As far as more modern aircraft goes such as the Boeings 747s' Airbus etc. I would not want to waste my flying hours on them for they hold no appeal to me. As for the likes of the Constellations and Stratocruisers then I suppose they would have a place here but with reservations in mind.

C.B.F.S. is to all intents and purposes a web-site that supports and acknowledges the years of when Britain and its' aircraft led the field in aviation, the tributes to these aircraft are of course the wonderful and realistic models that have been re-created for us to enjoy by the likes of Rick Piper, Derek and all the three Daves' as well as others who have worked so hard behind the scenes in assisting with the likes of proffessional paint jobs etc..

To incorporate aircraft produced from other countries such as those mentioned earlier is possibly one way to expand this VA in-so-far-as increasing revenues by flying further afield and also of recruiting more pilots but to me, and this is my own personal feeling, is that to incorporate foreign built aircraft into a Classic British VA would be a very sad day indeed.

Again, I would like to thank all those here who have worked so hard for so many to enjoy.

Regards Nigel.
