Shorts Sperrin help required

Post by T6flyer »

I am looking for scale plans of the Shorts Sperrin. I know that I have some somewhere (think was in an old Air Enthuisast), but can anyone supply me with a source for others?

The weather doesnt look that good for Sunday and Monday (well it is a Bank Holiday) so perhaps I'll find something then!!

Best wishes,

Martin

Interesting link there John.....thanks

The Sperrin was quite a hefty looking beast lacking the refinements of the V bombers...never seem much on it TBH

Somewhere amongst the far too many books that I have I've got this...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/V-bombers-Valia ... 1861263856

it's got a sizable section on the Sperrin, I'll dig it out and see what it's got that may help.

There is quite a bit of info for the Sperrin in the Barrie Hygate book, including some good plans. I'll try and get it scanned for you over the weekend.

I've always though the Sperrin would look as an airliner, something about the fuselage shape etc. I guess.

I can just see it with a BOAC blue fin, white top and two white stripes......

I better stop there, or Garry will eject me.

Kit/John

:huf:

It would have been the white fin and blue bands in those days :tuttut:

Reminds me of the film "Iron Maiden" where the 'airliner' the American airline owner had come across to look at was the HP Victor.
