Alphasim releases Supermarine Scimitar
Ok, so who's going to be the first? I know very little about the Scimitar so I'm curious to see how you guys feel about her.

Loved your post Jason (on Alphasim's forum) with regards to whether or not the Scimitar is worth purchasing a new PC and DX10 video card. Classic!

Re: Alphasim releases Supermarine Scimitar
Cheers Brian.
It wasnt a post to have a go or anything, basically i have Fs9 running on my pc full maxed out, with all my many pounds of payware addons working like a dream and yes ive tried FSX many times now and i alsways remove it as i just find Fs9 does everything i want in a flightsim at this moment in time. Eye candy, thats all FSX is, and not worthy of me spending pounds and pounds again just to upgrade my pc at the moment to FSX for eye candy as thiers nothing more in FSX for me to say yes to FSX over Fs9.

Scimitar F.1 had Rolls Royce Avon 202 turbojets didnt they? they are 'non-afterburner'.
So the question now is : Why does the AS one come with afterburner?

Re: Alphasim releases Supermarine Scimitar
Although rather unforgiving and only supersonic in shallow dive, due to thick wing profile and lack of afterburner on its Rolls Royce Avon 202 turbojets
The Supermarine Scimitar was a fighter aircraft in the British Fleet Air Arm. The prototype for the eventual production version flew in January 1956 and production aircraft were delivered in 1957. It was the Royal Navy's first operational jet strike aircraft and saw service from 1958 until 1969. However, it was beset by design faults and was a poor aircraft compared to many of its contemporaries.
Is the article talking about Alphasim by any chance? hahahahahait was beset by design faults and was a poor aircraft compared to many of its contemporaries.
Sorry i couldnt help myself when i read that line.

If it's turbine glow he'd better check the FRCs for an engine fuel leak!
Having just checked some video footage of Sea Vixens using the cat there's no noticeable glow from their Avons, I feel Alpha may have got carried away with their effects!

Easily deleted with a quick removal of the relevant entries in the aircraft.cfg I guess.
