Cars you have owned ?

Post by RAF_Quantum »

Hi,

Toby's lovely pics of the classic cars got me to wondering what sort of cars other forum members may have owned in the past. I've been through quite a few since I started driving and regularly used to change cars if they needed tyres or an MOT was looming  . Anyway, here's the list of cars I've owned in chronological order :-

Renault 10 - first car, rear engined rust bucket, paving slab in front 'boot' to get some weight on the front wheels !
Triumpoh Toledo
MGB GT
Alpha Romeo 1600GT Junior
BMW 2002
Hillman Minx
MGB GT (no. 2)
Vauxhall Magnum 1800
Austin 1800 'Landcrab'
Triumph Toledo (no. 2)
SAAB 99
Triumph Spitfire Mk3
Triumph Toledo (no. 3 - yes, I quite liked them but this one was tatty)
Triumph 1500HL
Hillman Avenger Estate - don't ask!
Ford Sierra
BL Montego Estate
Vauxhall Carlton 2.0CD - lovely car
Robin Hood S7 - My first kit car build, Lotus 7 'lookalike'
Quantum 2+2 - my second kit car build which I still have.
Rover 800 Vitesse - 180BHP turbo charged, loved it!
Peugeot 406 SRI Estate
VW Golf 2.0GT TD - my current car

The Quantum kit car is currently declared SORN and will be getting an engine upgrade at some time from it's current 1600 CVH XR2 engine. I'd like to fit an 1800 Zetec if I can find a reasonably priced donor Fiesta RS1800.

So, what wheels have other folk had in the past ?

Rgds

Well, John, I've had 72 cars so a bit numerous to list, but you might be interested in the Westfield Seight I built, with a 4 litre Rover V8, which was unquestionably the fastest thing I ever had : 0 -100 mph in about 8 secs! I found that it frightened too many people to use the performance on the road

I am just in the middle of a complete rebuild of a 4.2 E type FHC which I've had for 15 years and which had got rather tatty. I just hope I live long enough to complete it

I've only got 32-years worth under my belt Chris and have been a 'bike' man/boy/baby since before you didn't need crash helmets  Your drive must be the size of my car park!! Impressive array of ve-hicles you have there  Can't see me ever having more than one of each (car+bike) and the 406 is looking fave for the push. Been a smashing car.. had it from 5months old (P reg) but it's getting tired. No idea what to get next as I don't really like anything I can afford!
