With a friend I decided to go on the top of a mountain in Wales. Being flight buffs I think you guys may know about the Loop where a majority of the UK's low flying goes on.
Clambered up this mountain opposite Cadair Idris and waited for about 15 mins until we saw our first target. A Hawk? No, a Typhoon doing a relatively high loop. Few hawks here and there very low! Then towards the End of the day a Special Forces Herc comes trundling round. No with my useless camera I managed to get one shot that I was pleased with!
Then to finish off the day some lights down in the valey appeard to be Typhoons on a low and slow.
Amazing day out and will hopefully get a better box to take thingy's with. Anyone been before?
Well I went back yesterday for some more antics. Experienced the annoyance of not having a decent camera when we were buzzed by 15's and Harrier GR-9's.
Again the faithful herc was the first 1 round the loop and again I got it.
Well the one I got the pics of the herc from is known as Cad East. It is a bit easier to get up and you get more time to spot targets (ok ok planes). We moved to a spot in the after noon which is known as the Bwlch (bulk in english) which is a ridge. The aircraft scream down there and usually pass level with the ridge. Once they know you are there, they tend to show off. It is just amazing seeing F15's, Harriers, Hawks and even a Grob coming down the valley towards you.
