Yes, $460 is a bit steep and that is only for the very basic keyboard. But, like most new technology, the price will probably come down over time. It certainly would be great for FS.

I think I would have named it "Optimus Prime" after one of the main characters in the new DVD "Transformers"

It's nowt for me I'm afraid (even though I still fly with the mouse and keyboard only)

Those various light would distract me more that help me out I'm afraid.

A gimmick in my humble opinion, and pretty useless.

Looks good! Would be better if you could assign keys to FS functions and use it that way? Instead of remembering what keys what or assigning them to my X-52 and its three modes...

I think you can control the lights and make them anything you want, at least that was my understanding. You can have different layouts and so could set up one for FS where all the appropriate keys were color coded for easy identification and you could have a default set-up were all the keys were the same color, like your current keyboard.

While I certainly wouldnt buy it now - too costly, let others beta test it and so on, I do think a few years hence it will be more than just a gimmick (in my equally humble opinion) ;-)

TBH

I think it's one of the most pointless things I've ever seen

I just can't think af any advantage that would have :dunno:

A silly waste of money and resources :)

If they were free I wouldn't want one........just an annoying distraction and burning more power than needed.

You can keep your keyboard. I would'nt mind getting keyed into Veronica Belmont. Coolio

On the one hand, me want. You could customise the keys for different applications so for instance in Photo Shop the short cut keys would have little symbols showing what they do, and then in FS you could assign custom controls to keys, again with little symbols.
On the other hand I'd spend so much time setting up the keyboard I'd never actually use any of the programs.
It's also practical if you use different keyboard layouts e.g. UK English and French where the keys are laid out differently. Mind you when I worked in France I just set the keyboard as UK English and touch typed, used to confuse the heck out of anyone else who used it!

I don't see why you need to show what the shortcut keys do

When I use photoshop I know what the keys I need do already......as soon as you are a little familiar you don't need to look :dunno:

I hate the though of the keyboard lit and being an annoyance. :-(

Yuk....a horrible idea and as I mentioned above a waste of energy.

While there may be disagreement on the merits of a lighted keyboard, I doubt there will be many that would argue with your sentiments towards Veronica. :)
