Project Manhigh
I had the pleasure of meeting Joe Kittinger at Oshkosh about ten years ago. He lectured extensivly on the Manhigh Ballon ascents.- seems amazing its almost 50 years ago

He also ended up as a POW in Vietnam, didn't he? A true American hero, and a very brave man.

Rich , Im not sure - they had two of the three ManHigh Project guys there lecturing in the "Theatre in the Woods" I seem to remmber he was a flight surgeon at one time - It was an impressive story - I think what go to me was that I wsant aware it
went on into the early 60s I always thought it was a early 50s thing.

What about the pressure and the rapid rise of it during the fall?
Serious stuff and with so much clothing on he was at the mercy of whatever.....he could hardly move so the landing must have been tricky.
