Going to the Dark Side..Again.....

Post by tonymadge »

I have ordered the new version 2 of Horizon VFR scenery for FSX. Got it at under £20 as I had bought the original from them.. Now I am looking at eBay for FSX deluxe seems about 25 notes will get a new copy with postage.. Have downloaded Patches 1 and 2 already.
Now I can hear the gasps of astonishment and the calls going into the local looney bin to see if a spare bed is available for me. No I have not been tasting the purple sweets that make dreams so pleasent. No I have not had a fall and banged my nut, nope... just thought that getting the software cheap and with these patches out and with nHancer running it might be worth another go...Plus I will be using only the stock scenery, planes, weather as I plan to use it only for local VFR and continue to run FS9.1 as my numero uno flightsim. I cant afford the FSX add-ons :'(
A couple of things to ask the experts
1: The lousy desert like textures of Europe, are they now fixed with the patches or do I need to download the set of file at flightsim.com that are available?
2:I had FSX orginally on my PC and then unistalled will the new copy go on ok, I have seen that Caypso has had problems gettinga reinstall to work?
3: Am I mad??
4: Will my car pass the MOT
5: Why doesnt Kylie return my texts?
ok will wait with interest :D

Dear oh dear oh dear.. a moth drawn to a lamp

To answer only 1 of your questions.. the patches do nothing to Europes ground textures. Good news is that Chile seems to look more like Europe so perhaps Bill got his earth textures mixed up.. an easy mistake to make given the size of the world

Hi Tony,

Trev's problems are due to the fact that the shop put the wrong CD in the Acceleration box so he ended up installing Delux over the top of standard, nowt to do with the product, just a dodgy shop assistant.

Sp1 and SP2 make a hell of a difference to the sim. Basically (as we've mentioned before) Install the sim... activate it, run it (a default flight) close the sim. Install SP1, start the sim... default flight, close the sim. Install SP2, start the sim.

After that you can put your addons on.

Tony,

Not totally sure what SP1 does as I installed it concurrently with FSX so I've always had it, SP2 I think does something to prop textures, but mostly improves overall performance. It doesn't include the carrier ops that come with Acceleration, but if you don't want those there's no pressing need to get Acceleration.

Few can resist the power of the Dark Side.....

cheers for the info on this, I intend to do some test flights
1: basic set up
2: SP1
3: SP2
then add the Europe textures and Horizon Gen stuff. I may use UK Scenery but that will be the lot..
