Am I the only one?

Post by Charlie Bravo »

Am I the only one thats gotten bored of flightsim, it's inaccuracies and poor graphics engine? I've been flying since the days of FS98 and each revision seems worse than the last. I invested in FSX around 2 weeks ago, ran it once and that was it.

This week I bought myself a laptop and I intend to strip my PC and sell it, meaning no more FS for me.

Guess you completed all the missions then.

Give them a try,
they'll surely alleviate your boredom.

That's a bit drastic Chris but I know what you mean. Thing is.. however bored I get, I always come back to it in the end ;-)

I think you get out of FS what you put into it.

Given that the bog standard FS has improved in leaps and bounds from issue to issue, and the quality of add-on material has more than kept pace, the FS world is your scampi! I rarely get by without my daily 'fix' even though it might just be a couple of circuits to try out a new downlad. Couldn't imagine life wthout my FS with all it's infuriating issues from time to time.

As for tea? Surely a steaming mug of brown stuff is what your spare hand is for - given that the operating had is wrpped round a joystick/yoke........ :)

I think a lot of it is expectation

In the days of 98 and beforem FS was crude but this was soimething new unimaginable and impressive

There were aeroplanes that almost looked like they should and the world was held in awe

Now it is so good, within the limitaions, one expects it to be perfect

Before the next sim comes out there is much debate on all the wonders, so it will be a dissapointment no matter what.

Now the potential is seemingly there expectations are high...before it was a case of being amazing that it could exist

If all expectations were met, I wonder how many could run the sim with the CPU demands and perhaps it could cost £150 would that be acceptable?

Moving into making addons is one sure way of keeping the interest going as well as helping in a small way to make the best of what it is.

No, no - of course not, CB. Anybody with a varied life gets bored with part of it now and again. It really doesn't matter. If you enjoy something, do it. If you don't, don't. You only answer to yourself (and the memsahib if you're married). I've become bored with flightsim several times and even wiped it off my PC once or twice and gone off to do other things. So far, I've always returned but you never know where life will lead you.

Whatever you do, have fun and I hope you'll pop back from time to time to offer us valuable advice about computers, which has always been much appreciated in the past.

Cheers

Ian :)

p.s. You haven't bought Bus Sim have you?

If anything, FSX has reinvigorated my enthusiasm for FS. Once I get my new PC later this year, I'm really going to build upon it with add-ons and new aircraft. Rather looking forward to it all. :)
