The good folks at Venture VA and Timberwolf VA will be co-hosting a Mulitplayer online event in September for FS9
The date and time are still being worked out , but it will be probably on a Saturday or Sunday evening GMT.
The Timberwolf VA gents aer providing the Teamspeak frequencies and the race events and scenery are all ready put together.
This is how it will work - Dave Molyneaux says that the Teamspeak program will support about 50 people , So if you wish to take part
you will need to register early,
The Evenings festivites will start with a fly-in to Kaupo Ranch (PHKE, a fictious 4500 foot grass strip on the southeast side of Maui) - people are
asked to post the type of aircraft and paint they plan to flyin - so others can download them if they wish to see these aircraft. the flyin will go
on for 45 minutes at the begining of the event, Its suggested to stage from any of the small GA airfields available on The North shore of Hawaii
(the Big island) Maui, Lanai or Molokai. There will be an aerobatic "box" south of the field over the water for those who have an aerobatic bent.
After the flyin - there will be two races held
1/. Will be a two lap race around the Eastern side of Maui starting and ending overhead PHKE using Rick Pipers HS748 (hence "budgie race"
those wishing to compete will stage at PHOG (Kahalui airport) and will be marshalled to Kaupo by a pace aircraft - When they are all
in formation a flying start will be held with the traditional "Gentlemen you have a race" from the pace aircraft. There is a scenery package
put together by Dave Molyneaux, available at www.classicbritishfiles.com) listed as "The Ranch Air Race" It includes the scenery for PHKE,
Pylons situated at the turns on the race course - Two Red bull style "gates at Hana airport (PHHN) and at Pu'unene agriculutral strip
there will be members of Venture VA acting as spotters at these turns. The scenery package also includes Ben Vehlages scenery for
Pu'unene Strip (Hi19) and some nice little easter eggs. After the race Participants may try their hand at landing the 748 at PHKE or return
to Kahalui.
2/. The second race will be an Unlimited Reno style race - Those wishing to compete will start from PHKE and be marshalled again by a surprise
pace aircraft so they make a flying start from overhead PHKE - the race will be three laps of the Eastern side of Maui .
If you wish to participate please download the scenery and there is a thread at the Classic British Files forum where you may register and
and leave the aircraft and paint details
COme and have a little fun - the Budgies race should be a hoot - MarkP (Miggers) and myself have already flown the course in Hs748s
and its challenging .
See you there
