Re: Happy Birthday Ian!
Oh, thanks for reminding me, Desperate Dan! I haven't acknowledged birthdays for a few years now - in the hope that they'll go away. This one had gone away quite happily until I saw your post!
Ian
(p.s. Thanks anyway, guys

Re: Happy Birthday Ian!
Not as well as they used to, Ben! I remember one memorable birthday in Hong Kong when I was quite a bit younger, of course. There was a scottish Purser on the crew who seemed a bit strict and looked well, a bit plain. We all met in the rooftop bar of the hotel for sundowners and several of us were on our second drinks when this stunning vision in a tight-fitting mini-dress swayed into the room and all eyes turned on her and it wasn't until she walked over to our group and sat next to me that I realised who she was! When she saw my flustered reaction she gave me a little smile that made me go wobbly at the knees.Ben Watson wrote:Happy Birthday Ian!!! Hope there treating you well over in HK ;-)
After a meal out and dancing with the whole crew, she started buying me pints which she matched drink for drink. When we could hardly stand, we staggered out arm in arm to get a taxi and I remember nothing more until I woke up in my luxury queen size bed in the New World Harbour View Hotel with a full length picture window overlooking ... the harbour (obviously  ). Well, I had my usual midday Hong Kong hangover, nothing unusual there, but when I eventually forced my eyes open I could see that I had company!
I'll draw a veil over the rest of that story, but it led to a long-term friendship of the best sort. We never met at home but had a lot of fun over the years when we met on trips. Aah ... memories. It was the best job in the world. A 500 mph pub crawl, with all the booze you could nick and loads of money and you even got to sleep with your workmates
Try as I might to recreate Hong Kong in FS, it's still got a long way to go!
Ian
p.s. For this birthday, I'm having a bottle of beer in front of the telly. I'm less likely to get in trouble!
Re: Happy Birthday Ian!
Your some fella Ian. Think the rest of that story would make most of us jealous... and a lot worse

Ben.
