Surprised to find these in Iowa

Post by cjw50310 »

One of the historical societies here in Des Moines had a charity car show a few weeks back, and there were a handful of old British marques on the grounds. There were a couple that I'd not seen before, but I was surprised to see these three this far into the continent...

The first: Sunbeam Harrington Le Mans

Riley Elf MkII - according to the hand-out, this was brought Stateside in 2000.

Daimler DB18 Sports Special, I think. Due to an editing error, this one was omitted from the guide

Thanks for looking,

Nice to see our American counterparts keeping the British motoring heritage in such fine shape. Plenty of hours work gone into those girls I'll bet... Thanks for sharing! ;-)

At the risk of sounding a bit like General Melchett in 'Blackadder Goes Forth' ...matron at my boarding school had a Riley Elf.

Theres a few hours worth of buffing gone into the Daimler

Gorgeous stuff

And a surprise - The Harrington -- the last time I saw one of those was at Earls Court in 1964 I think
