This just shows that Brit engineers can still turn out something "magic"

Re: New Tornado
That was something magic Graham, I wonder why we cannot go back to steam after all, even burning bio-friendly fuels it would attract more back to the lines and also may in turn be cheaper than using electricity or deisel?
Of course the costs to build would be high.

Nigel.

I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
Re: New Tornado
Pure nostalgia Nigel, but I can remember the excursions from Leeds Central.
As soon as one train was full, it was flagged off and another one brought from the sidings until all would be passengers had been shifted.
And what's more, they ran on time.

Re: New Tornado
Thanks for those clips Graham, the sounds made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Tornado is a great achievement. I was heavily involved 18 years ago getting Blue Peter back into mainline condition. On its official test run out of Derby we were keeping up to HST timings with 15 coaches on, those Peppercorns can't half go when you get them sorted.
