Fighter Jock positions....?

Post by forthbridge »

Quick query.... Shot of a Typhoon over the Nellis ranges at about FL200 - pilot has both arms resting on the area immediately below canopy and his hands up as if 'closing' the cockpit (IE in between the rear view mirrors). Looks a fairly uncomfy position to maintain. Presumably he/she has selected the autpilot keystroke..... but anyone any idea if it's anythng other than perhaps something for the camera?

Hey Jim,

If the cockpit is pretty narrow (a fair bet), your arms are always down with your elbows jammed in at your sides - with nowhere to rest them. Looks to me like a comfort break as higher up there's somewhere to spread the elbows and rest them. I assume the aircraft has an autopilot, otherwise who knows what he's using to steer the thing with :dunno:

Cheers
