HS748 in FSX
How do I install Rick Piper's HS748 in FSX? Do I run the .exe file, and install it to a temporary folder, and then manually move everything over to FSX? I have also been told that I need to download an update to fix an engine startup issue in FSX. The zip file quoted was Gauges FS7_FSX.zip, but I can't find that file anywhere.
Can anyone help?
Can anyone help?

Hi Mogget,
Yes, run the exe to a temporary location and copy it over. Not sure about that zip file you mention. Hopefully Fraser or Rick will pop by with the answer. ;-)

Re: HS748 in FSX
Hi Ben
I don't know the answer mate as it's for FS9
it works for me here so no idea why there are people that it does not work for.
If there is a link it will be in the main 748 thread and i have not killed any files so it should still be there.
3 years since i did the 748 so nothing about it is fresh in my grey matter
Regards
Rick

Re: HS748 in FSX
Hi Rick, Yep, just had a quick check and my current install has all the original files and seems to work fine, so don't think there should be any problems.
[EDIT] Yes, Fraser did a guage update for engine starting here.....

Re: HS748 in FSX
Rick,
Just a quick note to say that I have your HS748 installed and working in FSX.......and what a beautiful plane it is. One very important attribute of flightsim planes for me is their stability at low speeds. I like to test them by setting the trim for take off, lowering the flaps, and then doing a circuit of the airfield before landing again (wheels down the entire time), and only using the throttle to control ascent and descent, That demonstrates if the plane is stable or not, and your HS748 passes this test with flying colours.
One thing I have noticed is that the engines sound a bit strange at high power. I can't really describe what I mean, but they sound far more natural and realistic at reduced power levels. Fortunately, reduced power is how I like to fly my planes, so it isn't an insurmountable problem.
Oh, and the plane looks wonderful. I have chosen the RAE version, and everything about it oozes quality. Hopefully, I will be flying this great plane for years to come :flying:

Re: HS748 in FSX
Can anyone give me a rough idea of the take off speed of the HS748 with only pilot and copilot on board, and 50 per cent fuel?

Re: HS748 in FSX
I have been hanging around wating and hoping someone will submit a post concerning the issue i have with the excellent HS 748 in FSX, this is by the way, not a complaint, I would not dare complain about anything Rick Piper had made, for fear of being being banned forever from this forum,or even worse, being banned from ever downloading any of Rick's aircraft again, I am obviously doing something wrong for I have the superb HS 748 without any undercarrige levitating awaiting take off, the Flt deck panel is intact and everything works but again from the outside looking inside the flt deck you can see straight through the wind screen with no detail of anything inside, to confuse matters even more the Andover models are perfect in every detail. I installed all aircraft as instructed, I have both S1 and S2 servce packs installed in my FSX sim, I have two FSX simualtors on two different PCs and have the same problem in both. I would be grateful to any help from the great man himself or anyone else who as come across this issue.
