Viscount problems

Post by GaryJ »

First of all a big Hello! to all of you from a newbie. My name is Gary and i've been a flight simmer since FS98. I grew up living next door to Southend Airport (EGMC) back when all the wonderful old propliners were constantly in and out, so naturally when i took up simming I came to love the old props that so many of you guys have given us.

I've been hooked on flying Rick Piper's Vanguard in FS9 until a few weeks ago when i switched to the Viscount 700.
Please excuse me if this is old news but, each time i turn on the landing lights of the Viscount all of my Ai aircraft stand up on their tails and sit back down when i switch the lights off again.... Is there a fix for this please?
I do seem to have all the latest files available and the problem only happens with the Viscount.

Thankyou Guys

Gary

Hellow Gary

A warm welcome to you

This is an odd one and I don't have a clue :dunno:

But to clarify are the AI Ricks Viscount as well? and are all the AI 700, 800 or mixed?

 Could be showing great respect for such a classic? :dunno:

Welcome to the Forum Gary, although I cannot shed any light on to this problem I am sure some-one will be along shortly and put you right.

Regards
Nigel.

That sounds like a very very old model compiled with FSDS1.x.. perhaps 2 at the latest (2.0 that is) :o Most of the lighting issues were sorted by v2.x if I remember right. If this IS the problem.. I think the only way to get around it is for the model to be recompiled in a later version. Thinking about it.. if it was v1.. I doubt you'd have main gear or props :o  Never seen it happen with my 700's but I don't fly them often :dunno:

Great answer! Well put, Nigel. Hey Gary - could you possibly post a screenie of the Viscount being saluted by the AI aircraft? I'd love to see it. :)

Hi Gary..

I've just dragged the covers off the 700 and tried it at the new UK2000 Belfast/Aldergrove paying particular attention to time of day as this always used to happen at dusk/evening and I couldn't get my AI to budge (they're mostly CalClassic btw). Tried it during the day too and the same result. The 700 went see-through (a known issue with the light map) as dusk fell but the AI remained solid.

That...is...bizarre. :o I tried to replicate what you're seeing Gary but, like Dave, I have failed. :-( FS2004's default AI aircraft are what I'm using. No matter what I tried the AI birds just sat there quietly. Oh, thanks for posting the screenies, Gary. :)
