What a Plonker!!

Post by Nigel H-J »

A two-seater plane had set off from Cambridge on Wednesday morning for a 100-mile trip to Lydd Airport, near Romney Marsh and ended up in Switzerland.....His excuse was that he turned left to avoid a weather front!! :doho: :brick:

Ah

Good news though as earlier they had called off the search for the missing aircraft and were saying it was probably lost.

Words fail me!

Nothing like taking enough fuel for a divert hey!

Somehow.. I find it very difficult to believe. How was this guy navigating :dunno:

I think the best thing to do is for the aviation authorities to make an example of him.. however they see fit.

Exactly! It's all fun and games until valuable/expensive resources are spent to come look for you.

My thoughts entirely Brian. What an idiot. I dread to think how much it costs for the resources used in the search for this man.

They should send him the bill. :@

Sounds like he changed his mind and 'flew home' - 'A foreign national with a Swiss address'. Bloody irresponsible idiot for not telling anyone.

So let me get this right ...............

He found bad weather over the South East of England yesterday which on its own was an achievement ? Then he turned a domestic flight into an international flight without bothering with customs or a flight plan, or telling anyone his previously annouced plans were changing ?

Presumably he made the whole flight naked because it sounds like he's the sort of guy that can't dress himself without assistance.

Genius

I remember a Beeb-on-the-Net headline from a few years ago:
"Yorkshire cavers rescued in S-E France"
For a nav error, that takes some beating, but this guy comes close.
