Vanguard Start

Post by NigelC »

I'm having trouble getting the Vanguard started.

Start 3, get indications of RPM, EGT, Oil temp and pressure, but RPM hangs at 2100 and no sound or visual of prop rotation.

If I use the R button, 3,4 and 1 do as above but as soon as number 2 begins start cycle, 3,4,and 1 spool up and I get the sound and visuals all kicking in together at that point.

Any ideas?

Hi Nigel

What we have here is an illustration of what FS can and can't do :) Fraser modelled the gauges and sounds to replicate the real thing so while you're sat up front throwing the switches, it's pretty life like. However.. it aint appenin' because FS can't simulate a dual stage start. As soon as you throw the START/OFF levers to OFF, FS recognises this as the REAL start so introduces the sounds and you can see (on the outside) the props start to turn. What all this boils down to is what you're seeing INSIDE, is what would really be happening but without the real startup sound. ;-) All the indications from the gauges in the sim are correct :)

Ian's bit of film down in E&S shows the start sequence very well if you get a mo to have a looksee ;-) Unfortunately for us.. As Real As It Gets doesn't extend to this level of realism
