upgrade ...at last its ordered!

Post by tonymadge »

Well after a lot of thinking and questions I have asked you guys who all came with great answers I have liased with andy who went downa similar route and plumped for this lot

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... ubcat=1334

I was going to spend a grand on a system but to be honest I have a lot of things coming up like car mot and service along with dog vet bills for an impending op, I thought it would be wiser to keep my old system and replace these bits. I went for the DRR3 motherboard and ram as later on I can just replace the CPU if I want to a 955 quad or better depending on what comes out, however I think this lot will be ample for now.
Sadly I have been working long 12 hr night shifts all the time and have to travel 90 mins each way to another air unit everyday, due to our aircraft being destroyed by fire, so FS and PC work has not happened for a while :-(
But once I install this lot it will give me an interest again...once I get the time ;-)

Looks good, the only suggestion I would make is to get a beefier cooler, I'm o'clocked to 3.6 and went
through a couple of coolers before I found the one that does the job.
Here's the one I ended up with, it's magic.
