A handul of pics from Leuchars at the weekend

Post by gordon-in-aberdeen »

Hi folks,

I thought I'd try my hand at posting a few pics, from Leuchars Airshow this weekend, since one or two others have as well. I'm not an experienced aviation photographer really, but hopefully someone will find something here of interest. Tried to keep it classic if possible, but see what you thing folks.Images are 800 by 600 approx, apologies if this doesn't work, since I've not linked images to here before.

Replica SE5a, but very pleasing to watch.

Very apt coloured Hunter for the show, aka 111 sdrn's Black Arrows

Stubborn little Gnat. Took them about 5 goes to get her to light, with the chap from the back
seat peering up her tail scratching his head a few times.

Image
Venom (not a Vampire as originally posted, thanks Peter for the prod. 8) )

Never managed as many good shots in the air. I found my 300mm lens not really having a long enough reach, or good enough quality to get much worth showing. Probably stnding in the wrong place as usual 8)
 folks

They're lovely shots Gordon and tks for taking the time and effort to upload them ;) Not the same as we usually get here and completely refreshing ;)

Of course.. you did the right thing by posting XX486 first  Love the shot of 558 on the brakes too. Most unusual.. I'd be happy with that

Ben: That's the tail of a Strikemaster (Team Viper displayed)...

SUPERB shots Gordon  - There's no real 'best place' to stand and in reality air shots in full sun at Leuchars are a real premium since you're looking straight into the sun. Cheers for those

Sun at Leuchars is always a problem, everything flying is usualy silhouetted unless your to either end of the runway. Great for aircraft recognition competitions, but useless for much else i'm finding.

I got a couple shot shots of the Strikemasters. I'll pop them on when I get a chance. (At work at moment :worried: )
There was an early Jet Provost hiding round the back of the hangars as well, it snuck out at the end and flew off when most folks were heading home. Two chipmunks as well, but they just stayed put all day :(

OOps :$ should have proof read it all first 8)
Thanks Peter, no surprises there that you'd spot the "deliberate" mistake, since you've had the pleasure of flying in them... :-#
