Real Environment Xtreme 2

Post by VEGAS »

Hi Guys,

Well after much deliberation. I have invested in my next payware product. And am I glad I did.

Having used Active Sky X and Graphics X for the last few years. I decided it was time for a change.

Having downloaded and installed the REX2 (4.2GB!) product, this was my first flight this morning.

Think I need to RTFM on it though. There are some weird and wonderful settings to tinker with. *-)

First impressions are very good. If your considering a realistic add-on to enhance the sim. Then I would definately go for it.

Shame I have to make the Active Sky redundant. But you have to move with the times I guess.

I must say they look close to very real photos! Im extreamly happy with REX2, except for the flashing windows when its loading textures, i find it extreamly evironment enhancing. I use the realistic textures myself, over the others as i find them to look better...

It's hard to imagine anyone being disappointed with REX. It can be a pain to find the sets that suit your tastes, as with anything of that nature, but once you have found them it's fantastic.

It'll be even better when this gets implemented:

I guess quite a few have this already so most will already know about it.

My progression with FSX add-ons has been quite slow, mainly because of the bl**dy cost of payware these days.

More or less got the scenery, weather, aircraft and traffic sorted now.

And now the wife is buying me TrackIR for xmas.

Perhaps one day I will be up to date with the rest of the gang. Just in time for FSXI !

Too late Eddie...we have all given up Flight sims and all took our PPL....we all get together evenings and weekends and fly circuits in jumbos and stuff... :excited:

Tell the wife you need your PPL for Xmas...a snip at £6500.....if she loves you she would.....

Like Tony I have had REX since the day it was released and love it, without doubt the best add-on for FSX I have ever had. Dawn and dusk are simply stunning.

The REX2 weather engine is also very good and very accurate (I often compare it to real weather data on the net to make sure it is accurate). I always fly in REX2 real weather now.

Don't forget with REX2 if you only want weather click cancel when prompted to load textures and the weather loads in background with no annoying delays for FSX.
Also don't forget the Weather Radar which can be viewed in background or via the task tray icon.
