HS748 blurries problem continues for me! Help please.

Post by IsmetM »

Hi everyone

It's a long time since I've been on these forums. Hope someone can help with a problem I'm having with Rick's fantastic HS748. I've recently returned to flightsimming after a while away so please forgive me if I'm bringing up an old issue again. I understand that the issue of scenery textures blurring during dusk/night/dawn with the HS748 should be fixed with the HS748glassfix files. Unfortunately in my case, despite installing these files, the problem persists for me. Is there anything else I can do to fix the problem or am I destined to only fly this wonderful bird in daylight? :( I use FS2004 BTW.

Thanks in anticipation.

HI IsmetM

Was there a glass issue in FS.9???

Long time ago now but that sounds like an FS.X issue to me *-)

Perhaps, as a starter, you could post your system specs inc ase there are any known funnies in there :)

Hi Ismet and welcome back :D

Dear me.. the blurries problem seems so long ago now I can't really remember what the original issue was. I'm still on FS2004 too though I have to admit I don't do a great deal of night flying, I've not seen this. Are the blurries happening from the 2D panel, VC or when you are in spot view? *-) As Garry stated, the only issue I've been aware of was with FSX not FS9.

EDIT..
Ismet, I've just gone back through the 748 thread to April 2006 and see that some users DID report an issue with the model in that sim. One user (me4246) said that he noticed it happen if he used 'L' to control the lights but it DIDN'T happen if he used the light switches on the overhead. Can you give that a try :)

Thanks everyone for your responses. Yes, it was a long time ago but I still prefer FS9 . . the classic FS, like the classic aircraft we like here :).

I did try the lightswitch thing mentioned in the old thread about this problem but still no luck. I'm beginning to think it might be a hardware issue? , not in terms of computing power but some kind of uincompatibility. My current graphics card is an Nvidia 9800GT and my old pc, where the problem also occurred, also had an nVidia card. I don't know if this might shed any light on the matter, but I also installed the equally wonderful HS780 and experienced no blurry problems with this addon at all.

It happens for me in both 2d and VC cockpit and it happens the moment 'dusk' kicks in. If I pause after the blurries have appeared, change to any other aircraft, the blurries immediately disappear. Something happens within the HS748 at the moment of dusk in the sim which acts like a switch to suddenly make all the ground textures blur completely . . shame really as I actually like flying at this time of the day. I'll keep investigating and let you know if I come up with anything but if anyone has any other ideas I'd apprecite haering about them.

Many thanks

Hi Ismet

Try this one mate http://rickpiper.cbfsim.org/files/HS748Nightfix.zip

having spent 3 hours trawling through the 748 support thread i found it. :cpu: :wall: .....................................................

it's because i didn't use the same size night textures as the day texture maps
(FS9 doesn't like it when it has to decide how large to display the texture which is why you get the problem)

Regards
Rick

In a sentence Rick . . . you've made my day . . . . . or should it be night, in this case! ;). That certainly did the trick! Thanks so much for going to the trouble of searching and finding the fix for me. I did look through the long thread but clearly wasn't as persistent as you. Very much appreciated indeed. Off to do some night flying now.

Best wishes

Ismet

Hi Ismet

Don't worry mate

must be 4 years since i built the 748 model so none of it is still in the old walnut :worried:

I knew i fixed it quite fast

Best thing was i went and did exactly the same thing with the initial release of the HS.780 too (who says we learn by our mistakes?) :hide:

Rick

Hello Rick

Didnt know if you saw the thread below but the 748 base package , Chipmunk v3.0 and the Viscount have ALL now crossed the 10000 mark at the Pond
so who says old models just lay and gather dust???

Thank you for all you have done (including the "new" toy :) )
