Y E S.. otherwise.. sooper dooper. His latest lot of scenery, the Extreme series, really are very good IMHO. Lot's of detail without the frame hit.

Did anyone notice one of the 'posters' was a bloke called James May :-O Wonder if it's the same one *-)

Oh, if that doesn't kill the frame rates - I'll get it! Very nice!! :agree:

How about the runways - isn't there a sort of hill or camber in reality?
If wonder if this could be simulated in Flight Simulator...? *-)

Cheers,

Nick

I doubt it Nick.. definately not in FS9 anyway. The FSX world is supposed to be round so in theory, it should be possible but I've not spent enough time in 'X' to see if this effect is modelled. I'll have a look at Brize and Filton in FSX and see if you can see the other end of the runway.. something not possible standing at one end in real life :)

That looks brilliant. I agree the Trident looks a little poorly. Even so, I can tolerate that and look forward to the release.

Right, many thanks Dave. So it's an FSX thing...
I came up with the idea after watching screenies of FlyTampa's new Grenadines package, as here:

;)

Cheers and have a good day,

Nick

Frayed knot, Nick. The Dark Side does push the 'Round Earth' theory, but that really only affects the shape of the scenery tiles.
Otherwise, it is compulsory for all runways to be perfectly flat and level from edge to edge, and from end to end. I cannot say 'horizontal', because that means 'perpendicular to the vertical' and would allow a runway on flat terrain to at least follow the curvature of the Earth, but despite a great many highly respected scenery designers asking for variably sloping runways, MS evidently decided not to provide that in FSX, and so runways cannot be made to follow terrain levels.
Of course I may be wrong, since I don't have FSX.

I have a version of Courchevel (free one from ANB) on my setup of FSX that a very pronounced hump and slope. Not sure how it was managed, but it works a treat. LOL... It's a very interesting experience landing an aeroplane whilst having a positive rate of climb.

Interesting *-) I've looked at 2 defaults in FSX which I know have a pronounced bump in't middle and they're flat as a pancake in the sim. That said, I think we might be expecting a bit much in a sim of this price for that level of 'default' detail :)
