Elusive file...

Post by gypsymoth »

This is a general question about FS9 - where is this file kept - Airports030528.txt ? I've run a search but the result are 'Can't be found' so I'd appreciate help"
Thanks.

Hi -
Airports030528.txt is one component of Traffic030528.bgl
Along with Aircraft030528.txt and FlightPlans030528.txt it is compiled into traffic030528.bgl, to provide the default AI.
You need to use a utility like TTools to decompile a traffic bgl file before you can see the txt files that make it up.
You can edit the txt files and then recompile them to a new bgl, if you want to change AI behaviour.

Hope this helps

Further to this.. the traffic file is located in X:\Flightsim9\Scenery\World\scenery ;)

Make sure you make a backup before you fiddle or alternatively, ask on here as we all have backups available.. don't we :worried: I do anyway

Have a look at it after decompiling with TTools and as mentioned above, it will convert to 3 text files (.txt) which can be viewed in notepad. They are daunting in their size amigo because they cover the entire FS World.

You will not have that file, Airports030528.txt , unless you have decompiled traffic030528.bgl using Traffic Tools. If you decompile, it will appear wherever you have the Traffic Tools folder. At least that is how it works on my system with FS9.

That is a really ancient Traffic file...In fact it is the first I think...It is the original traffic file from FS2000 and the numbers are the date backwards.

Maybe not from FS2000 Peter but that's probably where it started it's life as the file name is indeed it's date reversed.. 28.5.03. This is the little tinker that comes with FS9 ;)

Thank you all. I have been advised to edit this Traffic file & before I can fiddle with it the edit I was going to do has been emailed to me.
I have actually removed it to a folder for safe keeping & have got rid of the default traffic, which frees up parking spaces I gather!! :welldone:
Happy Christmas :xsmile:
