Nothing Like a Good Demolition on Valentines Day

Post by airboatr »

This happened shortly after 9am this morning in West Palm Beach

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSylCXz-zUc

The building was gutted during the 04 - 05 hurricanes and was too costly to repair.
This was the 3rd tallest building in the US demolished by explosives to date. ((31 floors))

Yeah, a very long race. Kinda like that demo - a long delay between the weakening charges and the kick charges. Makes for that perfect dramatic pause. :)

Okay, it was a stretch, but I like watching both - car races and good demolitions. Lots of things getting torn up without anyone getting hurt (usually). The Nationwide Race was definitely a demolition derby this year. The Sprint Cup race was positively nothing but "good manners" in comparison. Although Junior now gets to draw another parallel with his late father - they've both gone across the start-finish line at Daytona on their roofs. :)

Speaking of dust *-)
Thought I'd point out a little tip if you ever go watch a building come down in similar fashion

don't go there without knowing the wind direction ;)
