I remember seeing one at Cottesmore's Battle of Britain Day display when I was a nipper. My RAF dad was less than complimentary about it, but I can't recall why.

No.. it got mentioned at Brooklands today. One of the Vanguard team got a 'backie' in one before he left the RAF and he was also less than complimentary about them. That was his comment above.. an all-weather fighter that didn't like the rain! Still.. they made plenty of noise
I loved the die-cast one I had as a nipper.. Matchbox I think it was. It's probably buried down the bottom of my dad's garden somewhere

Quite a catologue of events during its' service life by all accounts, some very tragic accidents.
