Using Sketchup instead of GMAX or FSDS

Post by tgibson »

Hi all,

I don't know if this is old news to you all, but you can now use Sketchup (much easier to use than GMAX or FSDS) to create buildings for FS9 and FSX. You use Arno's ModelConverterX to convert from Sketchup to MDL format.

I've created a tutorial here:

http://www.calclassic.com/sketchup_tutorial.htm

Two classic airports have already been released at flightsim.com using it (Baltimore Friendship 1957 and Kansas City 1958).

Hope this helps,
Tom Gibson

Cheers Tom. I haven't been over there in a while so didn't know about Arno's latest creation. Looks like I'll go and have a play thanks

Oh great, just what I need...another distraction to keep me from flying in FS2004. Awesome tutorial, Tom! I'll have to give this one a go.
